Master Scheduler

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 5 years in Manufacturing Operations or Production Planning

Essential Functions, Knowledge and Competencies

  • Good working knowledge of MRP planning, scheduling, lead times, capacity, and cost analysis
  • Good working knowledge of ERP systems along with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, QMS documentation and routings
  • Ability to constructively communicate with all levels and types of personnel
  • Ability to train and develop personnel through monitoring, measuring, and improving practices
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to effectively manage changing and conflicting priorities and resolve appropriately
  • Must be organized and able to meet deadlines
  • Must demonstrate leadership/project management and facilitation skills


  • Manages direct reports of planners in each facility
  • Maintains an accurate master schedule; credibility of the Master Schedule by keeping it up to date; accurate efficiencies, accurate machine hours; accurate holidays and exception calendars
  • Maintains accurate outside process lead times.
  • Overall approval of scheduling conflicts, customer expedite requests, etc; determine what is practical and what is impractical.
  • Supports the Customer Service Function and Sales to assist getting the Customers (regardless of SS or firm orders) what they want or as close to it.
  • Has responsibility to control Work Orders, Work Order due dates and the scheduling of those WO
  • Execute the production plan as agreed to from management
  • Balance Supply and Demand; assess the overall inventory needs and on hand quantities to support lean manufacturing, while maintaining customer contracted stock
  • Manages the resources, reacting to customer needs
  • Optimization; evaluates proposed changes for any impact on the supply chain
  • Supports Customer Service, Engineering, etc with New Product launches related do scheduling requests
  • The overall capacity planning; perform "what if" scenarios for quoting LT's and capacity analysis
  • Identify capacity constraints, for equipment purchases and manpower hiring
  • Reviews capacity constraints in each facility and executes work between facilities to utilize available capacity.
  • Create work orders for remakes, reworks, and splits as necessary.
