Reports To

  • Senior Process Engineer, Engineering Manager, or Manufacturing and Quality Engineering Manager

Education/Experience

  • Journeyman Tool and Die Maker Certification
  • 10 years of manufacturing experience in a related field, preferred
  • Applied experience in AutoCAD, Solidworks or equivalent
  • Applied experience in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to work well with others (vendors and co-workers)

Responsibility/Authority

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to occasionally lift as much as 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time (8-10 hours or more), frequent bending and twisting
  • Vast knowledge of material types (dealing with the tooling industry)
  • Knowledge of general manufacturing processes
  • Skillful with CNC equipment and applications
  • Developing EDM programs via CAD/CAM
  • Design basic production fixtures to include models, drawings and specifications
  • Completes work assignments in accordance with established methods and procedures
  • Authority to stop any process when defects or safety is a concern
  • Troubleshoots problems with shop floor leaders and operators
  • Review product design for manufacturability for quoting
  • Making the necessary tooling to support the manufacturing of product
  • Develop manufacturing process work instructions and documentation
  • Preventive maintenance on all machines with the tooling department
  • Works on production product when necessary
  • Training on equipment set ups and trains to the use of tooling as needed
  • Train employees as needed

  • Mentor to Tool and Die Apprentice
